McCauley Looks Forward to Joining Other International Teams

Deon McCauley

In February 2014, Deon McCauley inked a one-year contract with the Atlanta Silverbacks to play in the North American Professional League.  During that time he has had to undergo surgery for an injury he received while playing for the team.  McCauley has since recovered successfully but only to find himself without a team.  Along with a majority of the players who were signed to the franchise, the young athlete has been cut.  According to McCauley, the organization experienced financial difficulties and had to be assumed by the league.  Not being signed to a team presently hasn’t affected his prospects.

“When it comes to Atlanta, ninety percent of the team is not there anymore because that franchise was going in, you know, they didn’t have any finances to deal with the team.  So the league actually took over the team, you know, and so they had to let go most of the players.  Only about four players they kept.  So right about now when it comes to me on the professional scene, my agents are working as hard as they can to get me on a team.  Right now the transfer window is not open, it is closed.  So it’s going to be a little harder.  So after June things will open up for me and I’ll be out there again.”

McCauley recently returned from Greece where he also tried out for a team in that southeastern European country.
