Decomposing Body Found Inside Maxboro Residence; Mechanic Massacred

Leon Leslie Sr.

There is a gruesome murder to report in the community of Maxboro on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, thirty-one year old mechanic Leon Leslie Sr. was brutally killed in his home. His decomposed body was discovered Monday evening, and it was immediately obvious to Police that his death had been a violent one. Mike Rudon has been following the story since Monday night.

Last night, police cordoned off this street in Maxboro, and guarded the small bungalow home where the body of mechanic Leon Leslie had been discovered just after four-thirty that evening. Because of the state of decomposition, he would be left to lie where he died until the medical examiner could be summoned to the site.

“His two sons came home from school and found him dead inside the house. The time of death couldn’t have been Saturday. It would have had to be early Sunday morning because after ten Saturday night, he was at our home having food with his mom, so I know it had to have been after eleven thereabouts. But they didn’t discover his body until late this evening.”

Supt. Hilberto Romero, Head, Crimes Investigation Branch

“On Monday, the thirteenth of April 2015 at around 5:09 p.m., police responded to the report of a body that was found at Maxboro. Police proceeded to the area where upon arrival they found the lifeless body of Leon Leslie Sr., thirty-one years, inside the residence in a seated position on a sofa apparently dead, and the body was partly decomposed. He had stab wounds to the chest and neck area.”

Just after six this morning, police, along with forensic examiner, Doctor Mario Estradabran, were again at the scene of the murder. Following a brief examination, the body of Leslie was placed on a piece of plywood, removed from the home and taken to an undisclosed site. Police would not offer further information on what they found inside, except to say that there was no sign of forced entry.

We were told, though, that Leslie’s throat was cut almost completely through and he was found completely nude, with his pants thrown across his face. So who would visit such a vicious death on Leslie?

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Our investigation so far is revealing that some persons of questionable character were hanging out with him at that house prior to when he was found, and that is all the information that we have. We are trying to find some persons of interest that could assist in this investigation.”

“I just tell the police dem what I know, who he was hanging around basically, the type of company he was with. Other than that there were some issues in terms of a vehicle that he was working on and so on. He is an excellent mechanic, that’s for sure. He’s pretty much friendly, and like I said sometimes he mess with the wrong types of crowds, and I think that’s what led to his demise…the type of people he heng out with sometimes. Nowadays in this country it’s not so much what you do. If they see me di heng with Peter, Jane and Paul, and they’re after Peter, Jane and Paul then they figure I’m one of them and they deh come after me too. That’s the reality in this country.”

Police say that Leslie was no stranger to them, since in the past they had conducted searches at his home. He lived alone with his two sons who had spent the Easter holidays with an aunt, and arrived home after two weeks to make the grisly discovery. Mike Rudon for News Five.

Superintendent Romero confirmed that while they are seeking very specific suspects at this time, no one has been detained.

With him gone his “questionable character” type friends won’t have any “hang-out” spot in our quiet community. Maybe now we can feel a bit safer that our houses won’t be burglarized while we are off EARNING an honest living.
