2 Cayo Men Charged for Murder of Coastguard
Two men have been charged in connection with the latest homicide in San Ignacio. Twenty-one-year-old Wendell Ovando, a construction worker of Kontiki area in San Ignacio, Cayo, and a fifteen-year-old student were slapped with murder charges for the death of twenty-four-year-old Aurelio Montero Jr. San Ignacio Police say the third suspect has since handed himself in today in the company of his attorney. Montero Junior, a coastguard seaman of Bullet Tree, left his home on Holy Thursday after saying that he had to report to work on the Good Friday. Later, the family would learn that Montero never reported to work. In the early hours of Holy Saturday morning San Ignacio Police discovered a badly beaten and unconscious unidentified man who was hospitalized for a few days until he passed away. Montero Junior was identified by his family following his death last week.
