…Is Online Transaction Secure?

Pedro Lozano

Despite its user-friendliness, there are concerns over the safety of online transactions using the new system.  Pedro Lozano, a representative of Atlantic Bank, allayed those fears by explaining the security protocols that are in place to prevent identity theft and other forms of related cyber crimes.

Pedro Lozano, Atlantic Bank Representative

“All this transaction is done in a secure environment that, as we say in our jargon, it is PCI/DSS compliant which means it meets the data security standards that is internationally required by us.  So you can feel secure, you can feel rested that what you are doing there is fully secure, no one will see it, no one will have access to it.  So there is no risk which occurs.  If you are on the other side, as for the corporate customers who are paying using their online account, their interface that we have created with the Belize City Council, the payment system, the channel being used is fully encrypted, it’s fully secure hence no one would be able to take your file and to do any mischief or use your funds that you have with us.  So we allow you to use your funds to pay your taxes in a secure environment and this of course, as was said earlier, this is done in real time, immediately.  As you do the payment for those people who do it using their bank accounts, they can go in and check and you will notice your bank account has been debited, it has been charged and that fund is already sent in what we call an account for the Belize City Council that they can access.”

The service can be accessed using Atlantic Bank’s website.

PCI Compliant is set up by the credit cards company to scam the businesses that takes credit/debit cards at their point of sale terminal for a yearly fee. why I say scam is because it is a false sense of security. don’t take my word for it; ask Target, Walmart, Home depot and a number of other big stores in the US and other countries.
