Witnesses testify in Christine Perriott case

Story PictureThree witnesses took the stand today to testify in the case of Christine Perriott versus Belize Telemedia Limited. First up was Dale Trujeque, who was called by Perriott’s attorney, Antoinette Moore. Trujeque, a former HR Manager at Telemedia, was examined about the company’s appraisal system and under cross examination by Telemedia attorney, Andrew Marshalleck, he admitted to increasing appraisal scores for Perriott and her husband, who was also employed by the telephone company. Telemedia’s first witness, I.T. Manager, Jose Riverol, was examined next. Riverol, who was Perriott’s supervisor in the Internet Services Department, while she was employed at Telemedia, said that it was always difficult to work with Perriott. According to Riverol, Perriott only completed ten to twenty percent of tasks assigned to her and he believes it was because she did union work, and not the job she was being paid to do. Moore suggested that Riverol resented Perriott because when she was wearing her union hat, she wasn’t under his command. He denied that statement. The third witness, Winston Aspinal, who managed Perriott’s Department up to the point when she was terminated, took the stand late this evening. Aspinal testified that Perriott was initially a good worker, but became increasingly difficult to work with. A fourth witness, Ramon Carcamo, who works for the Labour Department was scheduled to take the stand today but when he could not be located, Justice John Muria ordered that he be subpoenaed. The trial continues tomorrow morning when Telemedia’s HR manager, Martha Molina, will take the stand.
