COMPOL Whylie Quizzed on Penner Fiasco One Year Later

Today, News Five was at a media workshop involving senior police personnel, and Belize’s top cop was also in attendance. We took the opportunity to ask him about some pending matters, since he’s not been exactly accessible to the media in the past months. First, we quizzed him about the infamous Elvin Penner. Penner’s name is making the media rounds again after COLA reps asked the Supreme Court to revisit the decision by the Magistrate’s Court to acquit him of immigration offences. Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie plays an integral role in any matter involving Penner, since he is the man holding on to all the alleged evidence in the immigration fiasco. Today, he told us that he’s ready to follow orders, if that is the court’s decision.

Allen Whylie, Commissioner of Police

“That is a private matter as you said. The outcome will decide whatever takes place. I am a law officer and I will always obey the law and the court. That has nothing to do with me, what is taking place. Whatever is decided will be complied with.”

Allen Whylie

“Sir, regarding the Writ of Mandamus…you are ordered to investigate Penner. Is that still going on? Have you stopped at all? Where are the files in terms of that?”

Allen Whylie

“The investigation had commenced, it has continued. The passport was retrieved. I think we are at the stage where the investigation is completed in terms of all the directives the Director of Public Prosecution had given the police to do. As is the norm, that file will be sent back to the D.P.P. if it has not been sent already.”

    Penner fiasco???

It is a triumph of corruption!

That Korean is in prison, and we got his money. How sweet it is.

Penner is the man, the pride of the forty thieves.

Not in prison, and did not rat out Ali or Hulse.

Someday Ali will call him back to cabinet to share the wealth and glory!

  2. CEO says:

Mr. Whylie FYI: nothing concerning our government should be private especially when they involve a public official, missing Belizean passports and illegal activities by public officials.
