Finnegan Defends Use of G.O.B. Vehicle in U.D.P. Parade

On Wednesday when the United Democratic Party flexed its muscles for Nomination Day, it was an ocean of red. Well, except for one spot of blue – the government license plate on a government vehicle in that political parade. That government vehicle carried Mesopotamia Area Representative Michael Finnegan and his protégé, former mayor Zenaida Moya. Now all things being equal, government vehicles don’t belong in political parades, no matter which government is in power or which Party is marching. So we asked the U.D.P.’s whip for an explanation which he was all too willing to offer.

Michael Finnegan, Area Representative, Mesopotamia

“I honest to god thought that you were going to ask me that the U.D.P. has been in power for seven long years and I have been given a vehicle seven years ago and I have the same vehicle. I would have thought that you would want to congratulate me on that. So what is wrong with that? And asking about my government vehicle in a Party activity…man that is trivial! I don’t think that bothers the people of Mesopotamia or the people of the country. The people of the country want a politician who works hard for them and weh noh tief. I think that is what is important. But a government vehicle that is given to me for seven years, rundown vehicle, left the U.D.P. office right to the Administration Building unu mek dat bother unu? That is petty, that is small, that is narrow-mindedness. There are bigger and more important things to do. Ask me how I treat the people of Mesopotamia division…how they are all clapping and shouting and waving and saying always Finnegan and the United Democratic Party.”

We note that the very popular politician has been ailing for some time, and it is believed that Zenaida Moya, who had an inglorious term in municipal politics, is being groomed to take his place in Mesopotamia.
