Where is the President Dylan Reneau of the N.T.U.C.B.?

Dylan Reneau

When the N.T.U.C.B. hosted a press conference last week to express support for the farmers, President Dylan Reneau was conspicuously absent. Inquisitive by nature, we asked for an explanation and were told by second Vice President Adelaida Guerra that if we wanted to know why he wasn’t there, we’d have to ask him. On Monday, representatives of the N.T.U.C.B. were on Independence Hill expressing their support for farmers, and again Reneau was not there. With an AGM this weekend, you’d think the N.T.U.C.B. President would be at pains to be visible. His absence, and the response of his executive members to queries, makes us wonder if Reneau will still be president of the venerable union next week. Again, we asked.

Marvin Mora, Second Vice President, N.T.U.C.B.

“I’ll give you the same answer that was given from the first vice president. Dylan Reneau—I think his office is right over there—you can interview him and ask him, make he answer for himself. But as for the N.T.U.C.B., we are on the verge of going to elections and that will happen right at the end of this month in Caye Caulker where we are going to have the AGM. So at the end of the day, it is up to the general membership to decide how we are going to deal with this issue.  But for right now, let Dylan answer for Dylan.”

“Do you feel that at the end of that AGM, Dylan Reneau will still be president of the N.T.U.C.B.?”

Marvin Mora

“He has given us the indication that he does not want to run. But it wouldn’t surprise us if he decides to; it is his constitutional right as a member of his own trade union to run again for the office…we will not stop him. But it would have to be the membership whether they endorse him or not; it will not be us.”
