All Parties Must Agree on Crop Start

Dean Barrow

Now here’s the thing. News Five has been reliably informed that if ASR/B.S.I. does open its gates to those Associations with which it has signed, farmers registered with the B.S.C.F.A. can also deliver, even without signing any agreement. Even if that is so, the Prime Minister says that is a scenario he has no wish to contemplate. And indeed he does not need to contemplate it, since ASR/B.S.I. cannot mill without a green light from the G.O.B.-controlled SICB. And without the B.S.C.F.A., there will be no green light.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I don’t know about that, Mike, I don’t know about that. And I don’t think it’s necessary even to go there. In my view, what we have to procure is a situation where the B.S.C.F.A. signs and everybody delivers on the basis of a common agreement, a common position. If we talk about the crop starting without a formal B.S.C.F.A. signature then I think you throw the situation open to mass confusion, perhaps chaos. I wouldn’t contemplate that at all. I repeat, let us not start a crop without a B.S.C.F.A. signature—however that signature is procured. Let us find a way to ensure that that signature is entered into the record and then we start the crop.”

Mike Rudon

“Sir, while you are not ready to contemplate it, would you be willing to admit that that happening would not be outside the boundary of the laws, the bylaws or the rules so to speak?”

Dean Barrow

“Well again, that speculation, I can’t speak to that. What I will say is the SICB could not compel B.S.I. to start the crop; B.S.I. cannot compel SICB to start the crop. Really this matter will only be put to bed and in my view, can fairly easily be put to bed when there is agreement amongst all sides including the B.S.C.F.A.  B.S.C.F.A., Progressive, Corozal Sugar Producers and B.S.I.”

The old “DIVIDE AND CONQUER” slave master tactics. It’s shows that it is still pertinent and effective today! Slavery has gone no where, it just re-branded itself. New disguise, new sheep clothing for the old wolf. See slave master sitting beside Belisario (House Slave), driving the enslavement of his own people without conscience because he comes out on top. It’s a shame. Dean Barrow probably got what he was speaking up for, pretending to support the poor farmers; “His palms greased”. Now he can back out and abandon them. It’s a crying shame!
