Salvadoran chopped to death in village bar fight

The country’s third murder of the weekend is believed to have occurred sometime late Sunday night. According to authorities in the Corozal District, at around six this morning, police were notified that the body of a Hispanic man was lying on the road in Caledonia Village. Investigators tell News Five that the victim, identified as fifty-eight year old Salvadoran Francisco Cartagena Duenas, had been socializing with several friends but reports are that in between drinks, Cartagena and another man got into an argument that turned physical. The scuffle became fatal when the other man pulled a machete and chopped Cartagena several times in the head and body. Tonight two men have been detained by police.
