Housekeeper Accused of Theft

Jessica Beeks

A nineteen year old housekeeper cleaned out her boss’ jewelry box when she allegedly stole expensive pieces of jewelry from inside her Bella Vista home. Earlier today, Jessica Beeks was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a single charge of Theft after she was accused of stealing over eleven thousand dollars worth of jewelry from thirty year old Operations Manager of Caribbean Shipping, Nicola Longsworth. Beeks, who resides on Electric Avenue, Belize City, was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser. She initially pleaded not guilty to the offense, but was brought back to court this evening and the theft charge was dismissed after her former boss had a change of heart and requested no further court action because she had recovered the items from a  pawn shop. But Beeks was sent to prison on a warrant to serve an eight month jail term for a fine of seven hundred and fifty-five dollars she owed the court since 2011.  According to Longsworth, Beeks was hired as a part-time housekeeper.  She told police that she discovered that the jewelry was missing when she went to her jewelry box to get her son’s Christmas gift to wrap. Police launched an investigation and on Saturday recovered the items from Fair Brother’s Pawn Shop located on Mahogany Street. All the items had been pawned in Beeks’ name. Of interest to note is that according to the victim, when she visited the courtroom today to withdrawn the charge of theft, she also saw Beeks’ sister wearing one of her blouses.

I think Ms. Beeks could easily get a job with the Lands Department within the GOB. She certainly has the skills for the job!
