Tropic Air Introduces New Cessna Caravan to its Fleet

Earlier this month, Tropic Air lost an aircraft during a crash landing at the Municipal Airstrip.  The single engine Cessna caravan, according to company president John Greif the Third, slid off the runway while landing.  The inbound flight from San Pedro to Belize City was carrying several passengers, including a shooting victim, when the plane finally came to rest in the shallow waters of the Caribbean Sea.  The loss, said Greif, was significant since the aircraft, at the time the latest in its existing fleet, was valued at four million Belize dollars.  This morning, the company proudly announced yet another addition to its wing.  The Cessna Grand Caravan EX is reportedly an investment of a little over five million dollars and boasts a more powerful engine, as well as an advanced avionics suite.  A release issued by Tropic Air says that the aircraft will be put into service immediately in order to support the heavy influx of commuters during the high season, before being emblazoned with its trademark colors in April 2015.
