Mahogany Heights Resident Arraigned for Murder

Jason Sanchez

But back to Friday morning’s murder of thirty-five year old Emerson Arnold, the cousin of Carlos “Zimbab” Abraham, a George Street boss. Moments after Arnold’s life was taken, police detained the man believed to have been responsible for his death. And interestingly today, a Mahogany Heights resident, nineteen year old Jason Sanchez aka “Jungle Rat,” was arraigned for the murder. Sanchez, who was unrepresented, appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith, and was read a single charge of Murder. Despite Sanchez shouting not guilty in court, no plea was taken from him by the chief magistrate and he was remanded to prison until February second, 2015. The incident occurred around six-forty-five a.m. last Friday as Arnold, an employee of Belize Water Services Limited, was on his way to work. As he rode his bicycle on Gibnut Street, a gunman wearing a hoodie came up behind him and fire indiscriminately. Arnold, who was also killed execution style, was hit a total of seven times to the back and died within minutes of the attack.
