“We have invited seventeen booths came outside. We have VCT which is the HIV, Pasmo, we have maternal and child health, we have our nutritionist here as well as public health, cancer society. As you can see we have HECOPAB, Mental Health…so we are trying to cater everybody in the health sector that can help us to promote healthy living.”

According to Administrator Alexy Rosado, in the past year, the polyclinic has provided health care to over fifty-four thousand Belizeans. She also spoke of the numerous health services that are offered.

“A lot of people know that we are Ministry of Health, we are a government clinic as well as we are an NHI provider. We provide services of all kind. We have the maternal and child health; we have general checkup, we can do all your status. We encourage for annual checkups. We provide the nutritionist in house; we have the specialist in house. We do family planning so we are not just general, but we cover every area. But we want to encourage that not because we are feeling good means that we now and then can’t do a checkup. We should do an annual testing to ensure that we are continuing living happy.”

Despite some shortfalls, Rosado says that the polyclinic has experienced tremendous growth in the health services it currently provides.

“The clinic is really moving on in terms of the quality care. We do have challenges as does any other organization or business, we do suffer challenges. Sometimes it could be challenges maybe of lack of human resources, but we try to do as much as we can. We try to promote for people to come out here, use our serves. It is available so come and check. It is not that you have to pay a lot of money; the only contribution we ask for the clinic is a two-dollar fee which we use for promotional things like that or to better the facility. The facility has grown over the years.”
