Cabinet Agrees on Financial Compensation for Danny Conorquie

Danny Cononquie

Danny Cononquie was executed at the Caracol Archaeological Site on September twenty-fourth. His murder sparked national outrage because it is believed that he was killed by Guatemalan encroachers; and then a memo from Assistant Superintendent of Police Diane Hall, written in January, had foretold that security was anaemic at best and that the lives of tourism special constables were at risk. Danny was buried with full police honors, but as we reported on Friday, his family is yet to receive compensation from government. Well, at today’s cabinet meeting, we are told the matter of compensation came up and that a settlement was agreed to. That amount will be disclosed in the next few days, but while Danny’s life is priceless, the figure is reportedly substantive. But for now, we will await to hear the size of the settlement.

  1. Imagine says:

So did it take the prodding of the media to get action on this??? If so, this is outrageous! Are the responsible people (ministers?) in cabinet doing their jobs as they are supposed to or do they wait for the media and the people to push them along (beg them to do their jobs)??
