Segura Appears in Court on Thursday

Assistant Commissioner of Police Miguel Segura, on interdiction for the manslaughter of Yolanda Valencia, was arraigned on a string of traffic-related offences, including driving with alcohol concentration above prescribed limit, on August nineteenth.  It has since been confirmed that Segura’s blood-alcohol level was indeed above the legal limit.  Segura was returning to Benque Viejo del Carmen on the morning of August sixteenth when he collided into an oncoming vehicle carrying fifty-four-year-old Valencia.  While she perished in the accident, cab driver Yanie Cu was hospitalized with various degrees of injury.  Segura was subsequently arraigned before Magistrate Aretha Ford and placed on immediate interdiction.  He re-appeared before the Belmopan Magistrates’ Court earlier this week but his case was adjourned.
