Still no arrests in murder of food vendor, Gerald Palmer

Raphael Martinez

As we said earlier in the newscast, twenty-seven-year-old Gerald Palmer, a food vendor of Belize City, was shot and killed on Thursday night during a nationwide power outage.  He was waylaid by a lone assailant who fired as many as six shots in his direction before standing over his bullet riddled body to complete the job.  It is widely believed that Gerald was killed in retaliation for a shooting incident in which his younger sibling, Tevin Palmer, was allegedly involved.  While the police were rather tightlipped in the wake of the overnight incident, this afternoon, Police Press Officer Raphael Martinez commented on their investigation into the murder.

Raphael Martinez, Police Press Officer

“At about nine-twenty-one p.m. on the second of October, police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Gerald Palmer, a food vendor of a Barrack Road address in Belize City suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.  Initial investigations revealed that on the same date earlier, he was walking on Grants Alley towards Barrack Road and upon reaching the corner of Grants along with Cards Alley, a lone gunman appeared and fired several shots at him causing his injuries.  Sadly, he succumbed to those injuries at two-twenty-four a.m. and so far the police have not detained anybody regarding this incident.  However, on that scene, police retrieved five nine millimeter shells and, of course, one point three-eight-zero expended shell.”

There have been no arrests made in the murder of Palmer.
