…and His Statement of Patrick Faber

Dean Barrow

Special Sitting of the House: It was only a couple weeks ago that Minister of Education Patrick Faber was accused of assaulting a young woman who works in his Ministry. She lodged a formal report with Police, but one day after withdrew the complaint. Still, it is a serious allegation. Faber was accused of choking the woman in his bedroom and then punching her in the face. Today is the first time we’ve gotten the chance to ask Faber’s boss about the incident.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“The police report was withdrawn. I will tell you that if that police report had not been withdrawn, I had spoken to the Minister of Police on the weekend when the thing happened and I said then the police must charge on the basis of the complaint. At that time I was told that the lady had made a report, had been given the medico legal forms and needed to return to the station with the medico legal forms so that they would then have all the ingredients that would have resulted in the charge. The lady never returned until the following day and when she returned it was to say I withdraw the complaint; I wish no action. In those circumstances, there is nothing I can do; not formally, not with respect to taking any disciplinary action. I do feel that it is most unfortunate that an incident of some sort took place. The fact that the lady withdrew the complaint I don’t know that you can argue that that means that perhaps there was never any real substance in the complaints. I wouldn’t think so; I would think that there was. And if there was, then clearly that sort of thing is extremely regrettable and cannot be condoned, but I certainly can’t take any formal action, except that there is a complaint that is going to be pursued by the victim.”

For a criminal nation you need a criminal minister of education to be an example for future gang leaders.

Patty is Ali’s boy for the task.
