Saca Chispa Football Field Criticized by San Pedranos

Early this year, with much fanfare, ceremony and even fireworks, government opened the state of the art Water Taxi Terminal in San Pedro, one component of a six million dollar project. The other components were a boardwalk, an area for vendors and the complete renovation of the Saca Chispa football field. The terminal is currently being used only for boats travelling between San Pedro and Mexico – not at all the original plan. There’s been some major criticism of the project implementation because months after opening, the vending area has never been used, and the football field comes with its own natural swimming pool, so to speak. San Pedro Mayor Daniel Guerrero also spoke to News Five about the football field, and said that he knows the criticism is being politically driven.

“The only thing I will take there with the criticism of the football field is the water that stays there and forms like a little pond there. When it comes to the buildings I will not agree with none of them. I know that it’s the political air coming in, and of course most of the people criticizing are the PUPs. I don’t have a problem with them I can handle them. The thing is that the water…what happened is that the football field is a little higher than what you see right now. It was like, how you say it…graded or levelled, and I don’t think that was supposed to be done. I think what they did it went a little lower, and that’s why you have the water…so yes we have to put more sand into that field. But you see people criticize it like if oh…yes it cost six million dollars, but the way they criticize it is like we’ll never be able to fix it. That can be fixed just by adding sand to that place.”

The problem with the state of the art, multi-million dollar water-taxi terminal won’t be so easily fixed. Here’s a hint – big boats, shallow water.

  1. Anony-mouse says:

Oh “retards”, stop blaming the PUP for your stupidities and corruptness. Their excuses stinks as much as their corruption. Yeah…yeah….its the PUP’s fault that water is shallow and the big boats can’t dock. Time to change this senseless government!! Poder al Pueblo!!
