P.U.P. Call on Police to Investigate the Incident

Lisa Shoman

The People’s United Party has called on the police to carry out and complete an investigation into the matter. That seems distinctly unlikely, based on the response by the police on Monday and also based on past experience. Faber has been in trouble at least twice before – once when he threw a cement block through the windshield of his estranged wife’s vehicle, and again when he collided into a police vehicle and fled the scene. Neither incident made it onto the police sit-rep, nor was he charged for either incident. So it’s likely this one will go much the same, but that doesn’t stop the P.U.P. from calling for the right thing to be done.

Lisa Shoman, Senator, People’s United Party

“I honestly expect the Police to do their job. Who doesn’t like that, who has a problem with that…I am sorry for them. But power doesn’t mean that you get a break on what is right and what is wrong. This is someone who by his own admission has been involved in a situation with either his former or estranged wife, I’m not sure which…and who sees to believe that he is above any sort of scrutiny. And I found it very telling that he was saying that he was going to say nothing because he wished to preserve, quote, unquote…a friendship. If that is the curtain he is hiding behind, coupled with some allegation that this is a private and not a public matter, and the Police refuses to investigation – then the women of Belize can rest assured that when someone powerful is involved, nothing will happen. That is not a state of affairs that any citizen and responsible citizen can accept, and we must all condemn that. At the very least the Police must investigate, and Patrick Faber must come clean to the nation of Belize and tell the nation what it was that happened. And if he needs help for either anger issues or alcohol issues, he should get that help.”

While the P.U.P. has issued a strongly worded release echoing the sentiments of Senator Shoman, the United Democratic Party has not commented on the assault, neither officially or unofficially.

  1. Ali BaBarrow, sez it all says:

Lisa is sorry for Ali and his forty thieves!

Boohoo, they must be crying so hard during their laughing.

To punch crazy women is a UDP minister rite of passage.
Get in line and make an appointment.

Look I do not support the UDP, but I believe that Lisa Shoman and the PUP is out of line. For starters, there is no charges filed by the so-called victim, therefore there is no job for the police to do and nothing for dishonorable Faber to answer to. Now the PUP is trying to make personal matters political. What goes on in that man’s or any body’s bedroom is private and personal. Did Lisa Shoman asked her what she was doing there. She had no business there in the first place and she went there of her own free will. Far as I know, she was not abducted and taken there. These type of WOMEN put themselves in harms way for money and bragging rights (I guess). Every little thing these idiots are trying to make Political making them look bloody desperate and not qualified as leaders. Anybody asking you to explain what goes on in your bedroom Lisa Shoman. Your are way out of line and need to mind your own business. As an employee she had no business in her boss bedroom. That was not a part of her job description, therefore there is no explanation needed. If anybody needs to explain anything is her. I do not support the UDP, quite frankly I despise them, but more and more I see I do not need to support the PUP either. Let’s go INDEPENDENTS.

  4. CEO says:

Police officers are just poppets of which ever government is in power in Belize. They apply the laws selectively. I am sure that no investigation will be done on this matter, as a matter of fact the press officer stated that clearly yesterday.

If Ms Shoman really want this change you will need to wait until the PUP gets back in power and then you can advocate a systemic and culture change in the police department to make them a real unit to enforce the laws of the land without fear or favor.

Until then this is just business as usual.

  5. Phillipa says:

    Well said Lisa
