Nicholi Rhys on Remand for Robbery
Twenty-three-year-old Nicholi Rhys, the son of a female police sergeant, is tonight on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being accused of robbing a man back in August of last month. Late on Monday afternoon, Rhys appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith and was read a single charge of robbery. Allegations made against Rhys are that on August twenty-sixth, 2014, by use of force, he stole from Delon Lockwood, a gold chain valued at two thousand dollars. Rhys pleaded not guilty to the charge and the court prosecutor, Corporal Christopher Smith objected to bail on the grounds that Rhys has a similar case pending before the court and that there is likelihood that if bail is granted, he may very well commit a similar offense. The Chief Magistrate agreed with the prosecutor and upheld his submission and denied bail to Rhys. Rhys has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October twenty-first, 2014.
