Belize City Teen Allegedly Raped Inside a Hotel

Police are also reporting a disturbing incident of rape in the city. A seventeen-year-old female minor is reporting that she was raped inside a hotel on the Phillip Goldson Highway. According to police, around one-twenty-five Thursday morning, officers visited the hotel where the minor claimed she was raped by an unknown male person. She reported that she was picked up by a friend and her friend’s boyfriend in a taxi. Along with them was an unfamiliar male person of East Indian descent. The taxi then drove to the hotel and her friend left her and told her she will be back. The man then invited the minor to his room where he had sexual intercourse with her against her will. “A seventeen year old minor was—for the want of a better word—was lured to her demise by her friend. What occurred is that her friend arrived to pick her up in a taxi. Her friend was with her boyfriend and of course an unknown man was sitting in this taxi cab as well. This young lady was taken to a hotel on the Phillip Goldson Highway where her friend told her I’ll come back for you and that never did materialized. The young lady was then taken into the room by this person unknown to her and she was raped. So I just want to appeal to parents out there. We are having quite a few activities for this September celebrations; this weekend especially. Please do your part; we a part of the solution and not the problem. We have quite a few young people who will be out there having fun. Your sons, parents do hug them and tell them you love them. Tell them to be the bigger man, walk away and of course you may end up seeing your son the follow day happy as a happy family and don’t be another victim crying on the television station.”

A thirty-three year old man from the Cayo District has since been detained pending further investigation.
