Accused Murderer Hit with More Charges in Court

Joseph Vaccaro, Jr.

Over the weekend, a teenager found himself in big trouble with the law after he was first arraigned in the Cayo District for a murder which occurred in San Ignacio recently.   Subsequently, he was transferred to Belize City to face two more criminal and indictable charges, including attempted murder and dangerous harm upon a teenager who was stabbed multiple times in January of this year.   He is nineteen-year-old Unitedville resident, Joseph Vaccaro Junior, who once resided in Belize City. Police say that since mid-January of this year, Vaccaro Jr., has been on a spree committing offenses.  Vaccaro was wanted in connection with a stabbing incident which occurred on January 16, 2014, in which sixteen-year-old Christian Martinez was wounded multiple times whilst at the corner of Lacroix Boulevard and Balam Street in Belize City. It is believed that he went into hiding after he allegedly committed the offense. Three other persons, including his father, Joseph Vaccaro Senior, have been arraigned earlier this year in connection with that stabbing incident. It was not until Saturday night at around eleven-thirty that Belize City police made another break in the attempted murder of Martinez and charged their last suspect, Vaccaro Jr., who was found hiding at a home on Mopan Street in Belize City. On Monday afternoon, Vaccaro Junior, after being arraigned in the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court for the murder of Victor Vargas, was brought to Belize City.  He appeared unrepresented before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith where he was read two counts of attempted murder and dangerous harm.  No plea was taken from Vaccaro and he was further remanded to the Belize Central Prison until September first.
