Woman Vicious Stabbed By Common-Law Husband…

A victim of domestic violence was stabbed at her workplace this morning. Suzette Pavon is an employee of Bowen and Bowen; she was cut at least once to the neck inside the company’s Slaughterhouse Road compound. It happened just before nine this morning when Pavon was talking to Santiago Ricardo Palma, her common-law husband of eighteen years. After injuring his estranged common-law, Palma fled through the gates of the Riverside Tavern and has not been captured by police. Pavon, however, was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where she is in a stable condition. A few days ago, Pavon had left the house they shared in Ladyville and was seeking a protection order from the court. Duane Moody reports.

Duane Moody Reporting

Police processed the scene of a vicious stabbing this morning on the Bowen and Bowen compound on Slaughterhouse Road in Belize City. Sometime around eight-thirty a.m., thirty-seven-year-old Suzette Pavon, a janitor, was attacked and cut to the throat by her common-law husband, forty-eight-year-old Santiago Ricardo Palma.

Sgt. Martha Rhys, Head, Domestic Violence Unit

Martha Rhys

“Miss Suzette Pavon, who is a cleaner there, and her common-law who have had several domestic disputes already got into an incident. Apparently he visited the compound and evaded his way past the security guard and was trying to convince her to come back home because they had an incident on Friday. And she said that after leaving home on Saturday to come to work, she has not returned since because of the domestic violence that they keep experiencing. So this morning he went there trying to convince her to come home and upon her refusal, he cut her throat with a pocket knife. She is presently at the hospital in a stable condition.”

The couple, according to Sergeant Rhys, resides at a Milpa Site address in Ladyville; there are recorded and unreported acts of domestic violence on Pavon.

Sgt. Martha Rhys

“That was a report. She is claiming that he attempted to drown her and that was a report at the Ladyville station because as you now both parties are residents of Ladyville village. She also has several unreported case that she has brought to life. So there are apparently right now in the middle of going to court for her to get a protection order and that court date was apparently set for next week Friday. So all of that I guess led up to this incident today.”

Duane Moody

“So what would be the next step, as the person in charge of the domestic violence unit, what’s the next step that you take in incidences like these?”

Sgt. Martha Rhys

“Well right now I am trying to communicate with the Family Court how it is possible for us to get an interment order for her as of today since the court hearing for her isn’t until next we Friday. So that is what we will be trying to do.”

Following the stabbing, Palma fled the scene and he is now wanted by the police. Duane Moody for News Five.

Protection order my ass. That evil man need to be going to jail for attemt murder
