Attorney believes foul play may have been involved in his father’s death

Paul Saldivar Sr.

On Saturday, Paul Saldivar Sr. was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital with acute vomiting and diarrhoea. He died at the hospital that same day, succumbing to what doctors believed was a heart attack. But his family says it is foul play, and they are basing that assertion on the findings of an autopsy conducted on Saldivar. Today Saldivar’s son, well-known attorney Arthur Saldivar, told News Five that they will leave no stone unturned in the hunt for answers in the death of their father.

“When I arrived at the hospital he was already dead. At that time there was the belief that he had suffered a heart attack, at least that’s what the doctors thought. But an autopsy was done on Saturday and the autopsy revealed that his heart was good. All his organs were good. However he had liquid on the lung, and there were only two causes, as I understand for liquid on the lung – a heart attack, which was the original belief and poisoning. So as a result, since the heart was good and upon examination there was no issue with the heart, no cholesterol issues, no blockage, no blood clots, nothing of that sort – the fluids were taken and are being sent for analysis, for toxicology tests to be done. Certainly the family suspects foul play here. I suspect foul play. My dad was with me on Thursday here in Orange Walk. On Friday morning he left my home in Sandhill to go home in Camalote where he was planning to travel at three thirty on Saturday. His gun was stolen from him a week before, and I suspect that whoever committed that crime may have some involvement in this crime.”

According to Saldivar, the family is still trying to find out who took Paul Saldivar Sr. to the hospital, so they can start their investigation from that point.
