4 persons receive Supreme Court bail

As we told you earlier in the newscast, several bail applications came before Justice Herbert Lord today. Four residents from Orange Walk and Benque were granted individual bail in their respective municipalities. Orange Walk men, Kevin Albert Flowers and Martin Rigoberto Rosado, were both granted bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars each. Both were charge jointly for an allege robbery that occurred four months ago and on June thirteenth were arraigned for the crime. In court this morning, their attorney, Kevin Arthurs appeared on their behalf submitting that bail ought to be granted to them because the charge was levied after his clients were pulled in by the police four months after the allege robbery occurred. Justice Lord offered bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars each plus two sureties of five thousand dollars with the conditions that they report to the station every Tuesday and that they attend all court adjournment dates. Their next court hearing is set for July fifteenth, 2014.

The second instance was for Benque residents, Martha Vasquez and Abdul Isai Urizar, who were granted bails of ten thousand dollars and twelve thousand dollars respectively. Vasquez was charged for harboring a criminal and the man for allegedly having sexual intercourse, not once but twice with a minor age thirteen. Vasquez has to surrender all her traveling documents to the Supreme Court before she can post bail; she must also report to the Belmopan Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. In the case of Urizar, he was charged with five counts of carnal knowledge upon a thirteen year-old girl who claimed he was her boyfriend. He was issued bail with the condition that he must stay one hundred yards away from her and her family.
