Minister of Labour Godwin Hulse says no dispute over Danini Contreras
Danini Contreras is the daughter of U.D.P. Minister Erwin Contreras. She is also the newly appointed Director of the Drug Inspectorate, a post that was created for her. It’s an appointment that has caused no end of discontent, primarily in the Pharmacy Association but also in the Ministry of Health. The situation has gotten so tense that the Public Service Union got involved and appealed the Danini Contreras appointment with the Ministry of Labour. The matter is still with the Labour Department, or rather with the Solicitor-General, but Minister of Labour Godwin Hulse maintains that there is no dispute for them to resolve.
Godwin Hulse, Minister of Labour
“As you know we didn’t respond to the twenty-one days in terms of that because we still maintain that there is no dispute, but it’s at the Sol-Gen and I have to say with all respect to him…because you’ll ask me also about Mr. Nelson Young and I’ve said to people, I’ve said to Mr. Young, I’ve said to the unions…that if I was the legal advisor we’d have been finished and you wouldn’t even remember these cases, but they are at the Sol-Gen. We have to do our legal scrub on them. The Sol-Gen is a one man band almost right now. He is always in court and so government is pushed. I keep bringing up in Cabinet that please could we get more attorneys. There are more attorneys there to help. There are a lot of young attorneys coming back. Perhaps they don’t want to work for government. Maybe the pay is too low, but we are stuck there. The Sol-Gen has advised me that he will give me a response shortly. I have about eight things there. As soon as I get them we will respond.”

“Sir you maintain that the government does not have to respond within twenty-one days while the union maintains that by the letter of the law government has to resolve the situation in twenty-one days.”
Godwin Hulse
“There are two sides of it. The Labour Commissioner, who is himself an attorney, Ivan Williams, and the advisor to us in the Ministry had advised accordingly and we are looking for a legal interpretation on that. And that’s where we are. I respect the unions’ opinion. They of course have to push on behalf of the people they represent. And that is only right. But government also has to stand for the position it takes.”
Oh yeah a next issue they will push under di carpet. No conflict to resolve? I mussi fool fool but i sure i di read that plenty conflict cause by dis minista daughter being placed inna dis job. Why hulse no go home especially since nobody mi vote fi he. He da just wanader political appointee.
I started to read Belize news just a few months ago but I think I’ll have to refrain from doing so as I’ve done over the past. It’s so depressing with all the crime, corruption and ignorance. Anytime I see you in the news , Godwin, it makes me sick. You’re in every department and an expert in none. Your behind is so crooked, it’s not funny; from the passport scandal to NCL, to the Contrerras issue. You know exactly why you have Erwin’s back in this issue with his daughter . Never thought he would be so crooked; from hardly talking English and shy when he was at SJC, now to being absolutely corrupt and absorbed with power. UDP wants to be in power so badly that they do anything, whether legal or illegal. They turn their heads to Erwin’s illegal businesses that he operates between Guatemala and Belize, his trafficking of illegal aliens over the border to vote during elections. My reliable source who is close to him says that Belize doesn’t know Erwin owns a (or part of ) hotel in Havana, Cuba and another in Merida. Last but not least, Godwin, we were all, including myself pointing to Penner, you, Castro in this passport scandal, only to find out Erwin is one of the masterminds behind it.
Godwin you have turned into nothing but a puppet you have lost all dignity you have been stripped of all moral value by judas barrow how sad you have become nothing but a yes boy.
Poor Godwin!
