Gregory Lovell replaced Byron Pope in Glasgow, Scotland

Gregory Lovell

Also accredited to take part in the Road and Time Trials in Glasgow is Byron Pope.  Due to a near-fatal mishap last weekend in which the cyclist collided into the rear of a delivery truck along the Hattieville/Boom Road, Pope will not be joining the team to Scotland.  In his place is Gregory Lovell.  According to Henry, efforts have been made for Lovell to be approved in order to compete in the cycling events.

“The accreditation process closed back on February tenth.  The sports entry by name and the sports entry by event was closed on June fifteenth.  We have met all deadlines and of course Byron was accredited to go.  In fact, we have in our possession his NVP which is a Non-Validated Pass, which is his actual accreditation and unfortunately because of the injury he will not be able to participate in the games.  Under the Commonwealth Games Federation Articles we can only substitute now an athlete in case of emergencies, in case of death or serious injury and we are going to cite that article in replacing Byron Pope with Gregory Lovell.  In fact, we have done that already, we have received acknowledgement from Heather Neal who is our liaison person for the Americas to which we belong to and so we are looking forward for accreditation to give the go ahead for Gregory Lovell to participate in the games.  But before accreditation can give the go ahead the home office will have to do the security check to see if they will grant him permission to enter the United Kingdom.”

The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow Scotland are less than three weeks away.
