Family of Escuela Mexico students prepared to proceed with legal action against the school

On April fourth, a pair of students on a class trip to the Che Chem Ha Cave in Benque Viejo perished in the Macal River, where they were freshening up after a long day of hiking.  The tragedy claimed the lives of Anahi Zepeda and Edgar Puck, both fourth form students at Escuela Secundaria Tecnica Mexico, and has left Roggery Tuz in need of physical therapy in the wake of the incident.  Three weeks ago, the families of the deceased students, as well as the parents of eighteen-year-old Roggery, wrote the school a letter asking the administration to initiate a settlement hearing with them.  In his case, Tuz’s mother is seeking financial assistance from the school to cover the cost of her son’s therapy.  News Five understands that the deadline for the management to respond to the request is this Friday.  Despite Roggery having graduated from the high school on Monday, Tuz’s mother says that they are prepared to proceed with legal action against the school should they fail to respond to the letter.

The school is responsible because swimming was not approved, BUT the parents are equally responsible. There is a 50/50 blame here. These students are not primary school age children, were they pushed into the river by the teachers? Of course not!!! These were high school teenagers who should knew the fact that if they cannot swim then they should NOT get into the river. If they felt hot from the school hike then I get a bottle of cold water and pour it over your head. My condolences to those who lost children but this sad incident should serve as a lesson for parents to talk more to their children about the dangers of the river and sea and for goodness sake teach your children to swim after all swimming is a great sport!!!
