Belmopan police continue their search for one of two men believed to be involved in a stabbing on Friday morning in the village of Cotton Tree. Twenty-nine year old Kurt Hyde, a Belizean construction worker of Cotton Tree Village, was stabbed six times to the back, face and arm allegedly by Orlando and Eugene Castillo as he waited at a bus stop in the village. Police have since detained and charged one of the Castillo siblings with grievous harm and are looking for the other. Superintendent Howell Gillette, the Officer Commanding the Belmopan Police Formation, says that investigators are narrowing in on the second suspect, who is believed to be hiding out within the village.

“Some time before six a.m. on Friday last, he was at a bump within the village when he was attacked by two male persons. So far, the police have arrested and charged Orlando Castillo of the same village with grievous harm and we are looking for one Eugene Castillo, who could be of assistance to our investigation.”

“Sir, what was the motive behind this attack?”

Via Phone: Supt. Howell Gillette

“Motive is not too clear, but we suspect that it stems from a previous misunderstanding between both parties. We suspect that he is somewhere within the village, but we continue to look for him on a daily basis and we believe that we should find him soon.”
