Motorcycle driver faces 6 charges for death of Holy Redeemer school girl

Visiona Carcamo

Today, nineteen year old Visiona Carcamo was slapped with six criminal charges for the death of five year old Akeela Wade on April fourteenth. Wade was on a motorcycle being driven by Carcamo when it crashed into a bus in Belize City. It is a real tragedy. There were three persons on the motorcycle – Carcamo, her sister Kelsey Peyrefitte and adopted sister Akeela Wade. The trio was returning from swimming in a pool when the accident occurred. All received injuries, with Akeela faring the worst. She succumbed to severe head and body trauma. Carcamo was unrepresented in court today. She was charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, negligent wounding, using a motor vehicle not covered by third party risk insurance, driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and driving with excessive passengers on a public service vehicle. No plea was taken because the offences are indictable. Carcamo was offered and met bail in the sum of five thousand dollars plus one surety in the same amount. She is to reappear in court on July fourteenth.
