Mayor Darrell Bradley no longer eligible for municipal elections

Darrell Bradley

Mayor Darrell Bradley will be leaving municipal office in March 2015. We didn’t exactly hear it from the horse’s mouth, but we heard it from his political boss, Prime Minister Dean Barrow. Bradley has been a perpetual waffle when it comes to his future in politics. First he claimed he would throw his hat into the ring in Caribbean Shores…then he said he wouldn’t be averse to running in Freetown, and then he said he wanted to stay in municipal office to oversee his legacy, so to speak. But tonight, that option is off the table, just like that. Earlier today, Prime Minister Barrow confirmed that the mayor will not be able to try for a second term. He was asked point blank if Bradley’s ship has sailed.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“In my view absolutely, absolutely. The deadline has passed and there will be no reopening of the deadline…that’s out of the question. The only possibility I can see in which that Mayor could run again is if those that put in their names within the deadline for some reason decided to withdraw their names and then that would throw the thing wide open. My sense is that neither of the two candidates that put in their names is prepared to withdraw. If that continues to be the position, then that’s the end of it.”

Dean Barrow

“Sir, do you believe it’s a loss at the municipal level?”

Dean Barrow

“That’s a funny question. I believe that Bradley did a magnificent job, but I believe that we can in fact select a new candidate for Mayor who can do an equally good job. It’s a pity that the Mayor did not put in his name. I still am not sure whether it is because he honestly did not want to stand for re-election or whether there is more to it than that. I will yield to no man in my admiration for his accomplishments, but as one television station said, you never know from one day to the next exactly what the position is. I leave it at that.”

The future election is not in the government power to decide not in the Belizean people power to decide, it is God who will decide the next ELECTIONS in BELIZE. What is happening to UDP could be likened to the Bible story of BABEL, where God strategically use CONFUSION to thwart their plans. The logic behind darrel Bradley inconclusive various reason as to whether he will continue to be Mayor was confusion in his mind and confusion in the UDP party he serves. UDP will be confused to the state to the extent of madness that will cause them to loose the ELECTIONS. Confusion is the factor behind all UDP scandals. The confusion started from Marcel Cardona, then Manuel Esqivel, Laura Esqivel, Karen Bevans, manager at National bank, burning of rosewood, demolision of Noh Mul and the list will go on till election day.

this guy wants to be in as mayor again, because of the monies he can grab (steal) now and then every other day. but with the big financial deficit he left belize city, (loans/bonds) he will definite run away from mayoral candidacy

  4. Teacher says:

My prediction is he will run again, and at that all the other candidates resign. Darrel is just pushing a certain buttom as hard as he can.

Mayor Darrel Bradley is a very ambitious person. As soon as he was announced the new mayor of Belize City he set out on a quest to work on the very poor state of Belize’s streets which in my view received a passing mark. But also he over-did it by not thinking of proper drainage and henceforth many streets required breaking open again and re-paving. Half of those streets still have not been fixed and now Belize City looks like dust town.

LOL. This is funny. They are both, Darrel and Dean, like two peas in a pod; arrogant. Darrel is playing possum because he has his eyes on Central government. This is about to get ugly before City Council elections and General elections. Wait until you see who may be financing his campaign. There’s someone in the background waiting for a little payback at Dean and Darrel, because of his clamor for power, will take that political financing. Don’t be surprised if Ms. Moya shows her head again. These upcoming elections will be very interesting. He has left that city in a mess. I don’t know what folks were looking at when they were commenting that he’s the only one who has done anything for the city. No Mayor has. Municipal government will be in a financial mess because any Mayor with sense, should have known that you hire professional engineers to assess the situation and proper drainage should have been constructed before doing anything to the streets. I feel sorry for some of these folks in these low homes. That entire city will be flooded. Then, it seems as if someone forced his hand to hire all these folks who knew nothing about construction nor engineering to build streets. I know him personally, and if it were up to him, that wouldn’t have happened.
