Man sentenced to 7 years in prison for burglary conviction

Rueben Cox

Forty-three year old Rueben Cox, a resident of Biscayne Village, has been sentenced to seven years in prison effective today, after being found guilty of burglarizing a building at Croc Land in April 2013.  Cox had been arraigned from his bedside at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital eight days later, after falling from a beam during the incident.  Cox fell unconscious when he attempted to steal electrical wires from the building.  He was found in possession of a bag containing a pair of pliers, as well as electrical wires that had been removed from the premises.  Despite maintaining his innocence by telling the court that he was given permission by the watchman to charge his cell phone, Cox was found guilty of the crime of burglary.

Rod you sound STUPID “The man is BLACK”!!!! However I do agree with Alberto, why is the judge handing down HARSH sentencing for something petty as such? I pray to the “Most High” that all the politicians, MAgistrates, GSu, Government official and all that are involved and can help/stop the mistreatment of Belizeans, get back ALL the UNJUST treatment they are imposing on their citizens!!!!!

I just wanted to start by saying that 7 yrs for wires is so injustice. They are people who commited way worse crimes, like murder, rape, batter, etc…..and gets off scotch free or very little sentence. I just think that the legal system is not fair for the average people. It’s all base on who you know and how much money you have inorder for it to work in your favor. which is not how a government should operate. He alread had part of his sentence by having a broken leg and hip, and on top of that 7yrs for wires? Did the judge even fully gave him a chance to explain his side, orther than saying that the watchman gave him permission to charge his cell phone? I dont think so! Just remember, he was found unconscious, and within that period of time, anything thing can happen without knowing. I second Black America, THE MISTREATMENT AND UNJUST OF BELIZEN needs to stop!!!
