2 men receive Supreme Court Bail

Ronald Sutherland

Two persons, an interdicted cop and a Ladyville businessman, were offered Supreme Court bail today. The cop, PC Ronald Sutherland, was on remand for not adhering to bail conditions. Sutherland was initially charged for the aggravated assault of his common-law-wife, Tanisha Ortiz, back in October 2013. In the alleged domestic dispute with Ortiz, Sutherland was also charged with wounding and threatening words. In January of this year, he faced a similar charge for the aggravated assault of Freddy Amaya with a knife. Today, his attorney Mark Williams secured bail from Justice Adolph Lucas in the sum of five thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount, which means that Sutherland will be home for the Easter Holidays.

Dennis Burke

Also receiving Supreme Court bail today was forty-seven year old Vista Del Mar businessman, Dennis Burke. He was remanded approximately a week ago, on April seventh, for allegedly discharging his firearm following a brawl that spread outside the Blue House Bar on the Phillip Goldson Highway in Ladyville.  During the confrontation, it is alleged that Burke shot thirty-one year old Oscar Perez to the abdomen, but he was never charged for that incident.  Justice Adolph Lucas offered Burke bail in the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars. Both men received bail with the condition that they are to report to the police station once a week.
