Arrangements are currently being made to return his body to Belize for burial.
Former Commissioner of Police, Ornel Brooks also passed away on Thursday morning, after battling colon cancer. The top cop worked with the police department for over thirty years. After retiring in 1999, Brooks became director at the National Drug Abuse Control Council before taking on the post as Chief of Security at the Central Bank of Belize. Brooks, a father of three, was a very private man and few ever knew he was suffering with cancer. He was cremated today and a memorial ceremony will be held on Monday at St. John’s Cathedral in Belize City. His ashes will then be taken to Gallon Jug where he was born.
