Belize Communications Workers Union gives update on negotiations at B.T.L.

While the P.U.P. is calling Anwar Barrow’s appointment at B.T.L. an act of nepotism, the Belize Communications Workers Union is throwing bouquets at Barrow. The union said in a release today that it has reached a collective bargaining agreement with the utility company and that Barrow was instrumental in the negotiations. The agreement is for a period of three years, retroactive to October 2013 and is valid through September 2016.  The main points agreed to are: a yearly four percent salary increase, a one percent increase in company and staff pension contributions, a twenty-five dollar increase per month in phone benefits for staff and free mobile Data four-G service for each staff member. The Union, in its release, congratulates the Executive Committee and all members of its General Council for conducting the meeting in an open and very healthy atmosphere.
