Stewart Krohn asks NCL Executive to clarify a number of issues

On Wednesday, Vice President of Destination Development for Norwegian Cruise Line, Colin Murphy, told the media that the company is moving full steam ahead with plans to construct a multimillion dollar tourism port of call on Harvest Caye.  Despite a recent letter written to the chair of the National Environmental Appraisal Committee demanding that the body revokes the approval of an Environmental Impact Assessment, NCL says that it will not walk away from the project.  Today, outspoken chairman of the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association, Stewart Krohn, responded to Murphy’s remarks, asking NCL executive to clarify a number of issues, including why Belizean taxpayers should pay over a hundred million Belize dollars in direct cash subsidy over the course of its exclusive concession, thus allowing NCL to recoup its entire capital investment at Harvest Caye?  Likewise, Krohn asks why would NCL need to reserve twenty-five percent of the jobs on Harvest Caye, undoubtedly the highest pay positions, for foreigners while Belizeans will more than likely settle for two hundred low-paying part-time, seasonal jobs.  The B.T.I.A. looks forward to viewing the proposed final agreement with NCL that the Prime Minister promised would brought to the National Assembly for approval.

I support this! I am very certain many person who came to Belize on a cruise will come back to Belize as over-night tourists. Since BTB projected there will be over 1 Million cruise passengers.

Now imagine how many of them will return as over night tourists. I can see Thousands and Thousands.
I can predict many Belizeans will be involve in tourism.

Don’t let NCL run all over Belize. They are in it for the money. Protect your lands and environment. Dont give them a dime.

The problem is that ncl done pay plenty bribes and now need to recover all the investment plus future bribes. Belizean people will eventually have to carry the load. Before we notice ncl will buy out the whole area and declare it independent and send all of us to hell. This is what happens when we have people always ready to sell out the country.

Why the GOB is doing this? no one has answered how much money graft has been paid or given to all departments of the GOB? and, people will never know.
