Pharmacists Association wants MOH to cancel appointment of Director of Drug Inspectorate

Marisol Melhado

Since the appointment of Danini Contreras, daughter of U.D.P. minister Erwin Contreras, to the post of Director of Drug Inspectorate on March fourth, the Pharmacists Association of Belize has been up in arms about her appointment to the high-level post.  According to the association, the creation of that particular placement did not go through the appropriate procedures stipulated by the Public Service.  They contend that while Contreras holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, she does not meet the requirements for the post of Drug Inspector, let alone the qualifications for a supervisory position in that department.

Marisol Melhado, Vice President, Pharmacists Association of Belize

“On March fourth, she started working and we found this out by a media house and therefore the pharmacists sent out a letter to the C.E.O. as well as it being made as a press release.  After that we got an invitation from the C.E.O. to meet with him and the ministry, including the Minister of Health and other members of his ministry and in that meeting we basically were told that the termination or suspension of this young lady’s appointment is a no-no and they propose that we meet with them with the minister actually, on a two months basis.  We really and truly don’t know for what reason.  The minister may have the right to say, according to law, but honestly he’s not the technical person to make any decisions as to the betterment.  He will be the final person for signatory purposes but the person that is of key is the Director of Health Services and this person, this key person was not at that meeting.  And if you say meet with the DHS then by all means we jump because that is the technical person and as a key stakeholder that we believe we are in the profession of pharmacy I believe that invitation should come to visit and dialogue with the director which we have always had and we always have an open door policy with his office but him not knowing of the appointment or the hiring of or the contracting of this person, even with him in the ministry and now worst us.  So we went back to our membership with that and as well the fact that they invited a member of the association, a pharmacist to accompany this young lady and her everyday work which again is a mockery as most pharmacists see it.”

What is the problem you legal drug dealers?

Belize is so crippled with corruption, who cares?

Belize is a criminal country, everyone needs to get with the program.

The churches are in support, they are silent to the injustice.

    Now the fun begins!

Don’t mess with Contreass, he runs the free trade zone in Benque or Corozol, or where ever Ali commands him run the scam.

Drugs, free trade zone, money, cartels, what could happen next?

Is the Benque ambulance still in repairs in Guatemala?
What is the amount of prescriptions needed to get it out of hock?
Will the Benque ambulance ever come home to Belize?
Or is it dead in Guatemala sold to a new owner.
Imagine all the legal drugs you can haul with that meat wagon!
