Belize Communications Workers stage minute-long protests at B.T.L.

We’ve been reporting in the past few days on the changes in the top management of Belize Telemedia Limited. As you know by now, Anwar Barrow, the son of the Prime Minister, has been named Chairman of the Executive Committee, putting him in charge of the day to day operations of the company. There is an update tonight of another development in the company, which is among the first challenges for Barrow. Staffers nationwide, who are members of the Belize Communications Workers Union, today held a protest and for a minute in the morning and another in the afternoon, they did not attend to customers and instead banged on their desks. The action was a message to management to lodge their discontent that they are not satisfied with a three point five percent proposed increase in salaries instead of a five percent sought by the union. A follow up meeting will be held on Tuesday to conclude negotiations.

dont give them anything until they start doing their work-returning phone calls, and being on time-when they say” we will go there today” and nothing happens until the next day-fire them. When they say we fixed the problem but they fucked up the problem-fire them. When they say “I will send someone” and no one goes and when you call-there is no one who knows anything-fire them dont give them a raise.

since BTL is a GOB ‘owned’ company….lets us see the transparency and what fees are being paid to Jr. Barrow. If KBevans left BTL to BTB for a $200+K salary, then what pray tell is the young Barrow getting paid???
