Would-be-robber in San Pedro is stopped dead in his tracks by his victim

Michael Wallace

The third death of the weekend was reported as a burglary/attempted robbery in San Pedro Town. The victim, Michael Wallace, was allegedly one of a trio who tried to rob a San Pedro resident after burglarizing his home. It didn’t go quite as planned, and instead of getting away with some green, Wallace was paid in lead. The robbery gone wrong occurred in the DFC area of the island at around ten thirty Sunday night and this morning News Five was in San Pedro for the story.

During the day this section of San Pedro known as the DFC area appears bright and quiet, with this cheerfully painted home in the forefront. But on Sunday night it was dark and deserted, and that’s when three men allegedly attacked Kirian Azueta as he returned home on his golf cart.

“Last night about ten-thirty p.m., which would have been the nineteenth of January, 2014, Kirian Azueta, twenty-four years accountant of Marina Drive, San Pedro Town, reported that whilst he was going to his residence, once he got out of his gulf cart to opened his gate, three persons approached him and they held him up. In the process, one of the robbers fired a shot and he responded and he fired several shots as well.”

Police say several of those shots ended up in the chest of twenty-four year old Michael Wallace. Apparently when two of the assailants ran, he stumbled away to die near where he had been shot. His body was discovered this morning.

“This morning at about eight a.m., we were called to the scene again; that the body of a person was lying right beside the residence of the gentleman. As such we responded this morning and recovered the dead body of a person by the name of Michael Wallace; date of birth, twelfth of the third ’89, an unemployed of San Juan Area, San Pedro Town. He was seen suffering from some gunshot wounds to the chest. And based on the description that the gentleman gave to us, matched the description of the same person he alleged to have tried to rob him last night.”

Next to the body of Wallace, Police also found a nine millimeter pistol, allegedly the weapon which was used to fire at Azueta but missed. Police are referring to the incident as a burglary/attempted robbery, since this morning they also discovered that the home had been burgled. The body of Michael Wallace is at the K.H.M.H. morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination. Mike Rudon for News Five.

Police have detained one person identified as Timothy Carcamo. They are currently seeking one other person in connection with the incident.

Great job sir – wish you got a chance to kill the others

@The Truth, good question, the answer is he was not thinking. This young man only saw his need, probably needed money for milk or diaper or drugs, who knows.

Is it that these young people cannot find jobs? why are there so many robberies taken place. Young men are at such desperate place in life, they are an endangered species.

  7. GrigaMan says:

I wish he could have killed all 3 instead of only 1.
We need more armed law-abiding citizens to help control the scourge of illegally armed criminals and level the playing fields. The courts only care about the criminals, and couldn’t care less about the victims. Instant justice is a beautiful thing.

  8. Belizean Pride says:

society cleansing is good after all since our laws are a waste of time civilians have to defend themselves now best as possible.
