Outrage at attempt to terminate public officers named in immigration scandal

Giovanni Brackett

The Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action, better known to as COLA, held a press conference today at the Radisson Fort George. The briefing had dual purposes and started with the organization putting its full support behind Russell Roberts, an activist advocating for the removal or the revision of the gun law….that is coming up later in the newscast. But it was the recommendation contained in a report on the immigration scandal that has fueled the fury of COLA. President Giovanni Brackett came out swinging today, with both hands and no velvet gloves. He says the public officers are being disrespected when politicians are unscathed. Brackett also took jabs at the unions and announced that if the three suspended immigration officers are terminated, COLA will take it to the streets. Of course, COLA is stepping in where the PSU should be treading, but they’re not, at least not visibly.

Giovanni Brackett, President, COLA

“We have yet to hear form Minister Penner, we have yet to hear from Eric Chang, we have yet to have a criminal investigation into this scandal. And I would think that it is fair to say that in the court of public opinion, Elvin Penner is guilty; guilty in the court of public opinion. The letter that he wrote to Jules Vasquez, I think in itself is evidence that could be used in the court. And I can tell you that if an ordinary citizen was caught up in that scenario, they would have been long thrown in jail.  When they put the recall mechanism into place, I was shocked to find out that since this failed attempt at recalling Penner, no other person or individual can make an attempt to recall Minister Penner. He is now untouchable, yet receiving the perks of the Belizean people; yet receiving the perks of someone that has the name honorable when in our view he is not honorable. And now the director of immigration, it is appalling to hear the Director of Immigration is proposing that the three immigration officers that were suspended ought to be terminated. Now the big fish gets to walk and the little fishes now will feel the full blunt of it. That immigration officer that will have twenty or twenty-five years will now have been thrown out? Because that is the easiest catch? Now that will not suffice COLA. If those three public officers are terminated, we will go to the streets. And we call on the public service union to find the testicular fortitude to defend your members. Those are not members of COLA, but we are going to defend them. Where is the N.T.U.C.B. in this regard? How many public officers, how many members of the union should be disrespected before we hit the streets?  Yes the pay is important, but the livelihood of public officers and members of the union and their credibility is far more important and should be, should be protected with every inch of the union’s power. The union should never be looked at as weak; as weak and feeble. The union should always be proven to show themselves to be strong. And so we call on the president of the public service union to defend the members of your union because this is disrespect. This is an erosion of democracy; it’s corruption. And this should not be tolerated.”

All true. The Unions and the PSU cannot attack their own government. They put them there. Needless to say, if was a blue government, different story. We would hear them Roar like Katy Perry. The PUP “would be raping the country, trampling over our constitution, and chancing poor people.” The good thing about time is that it exposes hypocrites of all colours.

Audrey Matura Sheppard…three officers need your services. What the hell is wrong with this government. This bull#### needs to stop. How long more are we willing to wait. How long more must our people suffer. This cant stay like this. And P.U.P is the last person that should open their mouth. Because they too rape our country when they were in power. Shame on this evil U.D.P. It’s time to stand up my people. Like Bob Marley said “Get up stand up, Stand up for your rights” God bless Belize.

Penner walked the man from office to office, the CEO wrote these officers to speed up the process. If anybody need to go home it’s Penner and the CEO. What the hell is wrong with these people. Penner still the collect our hard earned tax dollars, just because he has the drop on the rest, because if they try to fire him, he will open his mouth, and so they are doing their best to keep him there, otherwise they will all fall and PM know that.
