Final Report by Auditor General still pending

Dorothy Bradley

The Immigration scandal has gone into an induced coma – lulled to a deep sleep by the deafening silence from officials in the Ministry of Immigration. Reports of multiple investigations have come and gone, but no information has surfaced. First, there was the internal administrative investigation by Ministry officials. That allegedly started in mid-September, and to date nobody knows where that is, or even IF it really is. Then there was the Police investigation. Both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Immigration stated that the Police had carte blanche to investigate all corruption in Immigration. The Police Department, however, made it quite clear that they weren’t looking into corruption at all, and never looked in the direction of the man who started it all, disgraced former Minister of State Elvin Penner. Then there was the alleged investigation by the Financial Intelligence Unit that apparently never went past first base. All hope, what little there remains, now rests with the Auditor-General’s Department, which has been looking into the scandal since October twenty-eight. Auditor-General Dorothy Bradley has stated that her team is in Belmopan, but no information will be released until the final report is handed in, to the Minister of Immigration and the Prime Minister. Today, Bradley told News Five that the team has completed the review of files for the period January to September 2013, and is now looking at files for 2012. She states that based on information found, the Department reserves the right to call in anybody, including Ministers or senior officials, for questioning when the time is right. Interestingly, Bradley states that a Senate Inquiry in tandem with the audit investigation would not hamper the investigation effort, and may actually be of some assistance to get to the truth. The final report should be close to completion, tentatively, by the end of February.

Everybody dumb down. Time to go to sleep. The new coma is better than the last.

In our dreams Belize will be a better place, with the government not being corrupt.

Meantime, do not wake up when the vampires are working, it will get ugly.

sweet dreams, remember the candy coated jewel you once had as the money is drained out.

ANY inquiry is not appreciated. The slowdown of government corruption means corruption officers a slow with their bills and patronage.

Who the **** do these senators think they are?
Just a minority of them are trouble makers, like what’s her name?
No elected official should be asking questions when the money machine is in operation.
Next they will act like they have some moral responsibility for this mess, or the oath to the people means something.

The next coma will be great, it is what every poor Belizean needing a vacation can afford.
Close your eyes and think how much worse it will be if you really know the facts.
If the country dies, who cares, the coma is feel good to the end.
