Twenty year old Jasmine Martinez and Mason Lodge were the happy parents of a new bundle of joy. Baby Alice came into this world around six a.m. on New Year’s Day weighing in at six pounds seven ounces and goes on record as the first newborn baby for 2014; at least in Belize City. And today, the family was showered with gifts and prizes. Martinez says that Alice is her second child and she was in almost twelve hours of labor before giving birth.

“We’ve not only given the first baby her package—because it is a little girl, her name is Alice and we would like to say congratulations to the mom and dad. We’ve given them a case of diapers, Huggies Active Set, Huggies Wipes and also seven seas and Ovaltine and Kotex. So it is a full package for mommy and baby.  I’m proud to say, we did this countrywide. We have our people in Corozal, Orange Walk, Belmopan, San Ignacio, Dangriga and the only place we weren’t able to reach is P.G.  But if they have a baby that was born for the New Year, kindly contact me and we will get a package down there to you. But I am really proud to say that through our people countrywide, we are able to give that New Year’s Baby a package.”

“We have to say thanks to management for us to be here giving away these packages. We want to continue. As long as management allows us to do this, we will be here next year, 2015, God’s spare.”
