Belize excluded from 2013 Corruption Perception Index

The 2013 Corruption Perception Index is an annual measure of the apparent levels of public sector dishonesty in a hundred and seventy-seven countries and territories.  The list scores each country on a scale from zero to a hundred, the former being highly corrupt and the latter very clean.  Not surprisingly, two-thirds of all countries scored below fifty, a grave indication that corruption is a global problem.  What’s astonishing is that Belize has been excluded from this year’s index, despite the number of scandals—that is, we are told, because government has not submitted any report to the organization. The only other country that has no ranking in the index is Western Sahara. The Chair of Transparency International, Huguette Labelle, has gone on record to say, (Quote) “it is time to stop those who get away with acts of corruption.  The legal loopholes and lack of political will in government facilitate both domestic and cross-border corruption, and call for our intensified efforts to combat the impunity of the corrupt.” (Unquote)

Thanks UDP GOB for making Belize a zero no show.

    It really improves international investment.

Also having the worst education in the Caribbean is quite an achievement.

Belize, instead of being the best, we rank the worst.

Barrow just stated that he does not want a 13th senator because he/she would cause him from not having a free will to do as he pleases; he called it stagnation. If you look at what he said he is suggesting that he is the only one with all the brite ideas and a 13th senator will vote against his good ideas and cause stagnation! Really? So no other person other that your 40 theaves knows a good idea when they see it?

  3. Belizean ghetto says:

Belize didn’t make the list because the corruption level surpass the acceptable level. NO HOPE for Belize and its leaders. Belize need laws where these a**wipe can only run the country for 4 yrs like the US president can only serve 8 yrs, Let someone else prosper and steals greedy Barrow and Musa.

We are afraid of the corruption index, because we will be number one when it comes to corruption. The saying goes, that we go from grass, to rass, to mada rass! The told us they were hungry before we elected them and when we did, they said, its our time to eat. We just didn’t know how hungry these fellows were! Their tentacles are every where, and still wanting more. We need to love our country more, for I do not see how anyone in their right mine could still support this crew.

All the ministers who said, me, can’t be me you talking to with regard to visa, were selling visa. Their pockets are fat, but some are so greedy, that they are creaming from auto parts, supply of gas to gov, sale of land, medicine, contracts, and our PM want these mongrels to be in charge of more contracts. That is truly ludicrous!

  6. Guerra says:

What we need is some hard evidence thrown out there, maybe then we will get some action. Remember that Ali Baba is a lawyer, and the lawyer’s truth is not truth, but expedient consistency. They want to see the currency passing hands, or Dreddy handing the passport to Wonhung Kim.

Love what do you mean creaming from auto parts????
