Alwin Gabb convicted of murder

Alwyn Gabb

Dolphin Street resident, Alwin Gabb, who has been on remand for the past six years, was on trial for more than a week for murder.  Today, he learned his fate in the Belize City Supreme Court of Justice Troadio John Gonzalez. Just after one o’clock, a jury of twelve stepped into the deliberating room to decide Gabb’s fate for the July sixth, 2007 murder of Nolan Arana, a friend of his estranged common-law wife. Arana was stabbed multiple times on July first, 2007 and died six days later. The killing happened through an alley on Neal’s Pen Road in close proximity of the house of Michelle Lennon with whom he had split two months earlier. Gabb had gone to visit Lennon when he encountered Arana. He accused him of causing Lennon to disrespect him over a plate of food. Arana was stabbed multiple times with a knife and on the witness stand; Lennon claimed she saw the stabbing. In his defense, Gabb said it wasn’t him and that at the time of the murder, he was at home. Within minutes of being found guilty, Justice Troadio Gonzalez sentenced Gabb to life imprisonment.  Back in 2012, Gabb’s trial had started but it had to be aborted due to inclement weather.
