Well-known poet and entertainer charged for forgery

Leroy “The Grand Master” Young

A report on today’s senate meeting is coming up shortly, but we go to the courts. Well-known poet and entertainer, Leroy “The Grand Master” Young, a resident of Pinks Alley in Belize City was arraigned this morning in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith on forgery charges.   According to police, Carlos Walker, owner of JMS Paralegal Services reported that he was contacted by a representative of Wellworth Store located on Regent Street. He was informed that they were in possession a bounced Belize Bank cheque for one hundred dollars from his business.  Walker, whose house had been burglarized earlier this month, had noticed that his cheque book had gone missing, but was not worried since the cheque leaves were not signed.  In court, “Grand Master” Young was represented by Attorney Bryan Neal.  He was read three criminally charges, one count of Forgery, one count of Uttering upon a False Document, and one count of Being in Possession of a False Document, to which he pleaded not guilty. Young was offered bail of five hundred dollars plus one surety of the same amount. His bail was offered with conditions in which the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith ordered him to report to the Queen Street Police Station every Monday between seven a.m. and seven p.m., and she also told him that he must not contact Walker in any way whilst his case is still before the court. Leroy “Grand Master” Young is due to reappear back in court on December eighteenth, 2013.
