Foiled robbery: Businesswoman and her family catch culprit

Joseph Loriano O’Brien

A businesswoman, the owner of Golden Corn Tortilla, was robbed at gunpoint in front of five of her family members. But fortunately for them, they managed to subdue the attacker. Police apprehended the robber and recovered the gun used in the armed robbery as well as stolen items.  The alleged gunman has been identified as twenty-one year old Joseph Loriano O’Brien, a Construction Worker of Banak Street in Belize City. This morning, O’Brien appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano and was read seven criminal offenses including robbery with a firearm upon businesswoman, Isoline Banos, and five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm upon Banos, Mariano Espinosa and Shannelly, Selenie and Sirena Williams. O’Brian was also charged for one count of Kept Firearm Without a Gun License for allegedly being found with a revolver. He pleaded not guilty to all seven counts, was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison.  The alleged armed robbery occurred last Friday at Golden Corn Tortilla on Central American Boulevard.
