Residents versus Roman Catholic School in Big Falls Village

The academic year 2013, for primary schools across the country, began today.  While parents, students and teachers were on hand to commence the first day of classes, in Big Falls Village, a protest was being staged along the Southern Highway.  The residents were up in arms over the transfer of five teachers from the village’s Roman Catholic school.  They contend that the removal of the teachers was unjustified and that the performance of the current principal is unsatisfactory.  It is a situation that has been brewing in the south since late June and came to a head this morning.  News Five spoke with Alcalde Domingo Chi who told us what transpired.

“This morning, at about eight o’clock, parents gathered by the highway, parents that were not satisfied with the way management has been treating us with the transfers of teachers and vacancies for vice-principals and so forth.  So, with their displeasure the parents went out there to demonstrate, voice their concerns and what really happened [is that] we tried to get a word from the principal but he made no comments at all, at all, at all.  I went to speak with him personally between myself and the chairman of the village council and all he said to me is that he will not make any comments and he is following directives from management.  Management told him not to make any comments.  So, with that the people stood out there and we were expecting the local manager himself because we had a meeting with him prior to this.”
