SATIIM’s injunction against U.S. Capital Energy to be heard in court

In the south, SATIIM and Alcaldes of communities in the buffer zone of the Sarstoon Temash National Park have filed for an injunction against US Capital Energy. That injunction seeks to halt activities by the oil company within the park. Today SATIIM’s Executive Director, Greg Ch’oc, told News Five that the court will hear the case on September nineteenth. He explained that they sought for an urgent hearing on the matter because US Capital has stepped up its exploration activities in the park.

“Half a mile of road has been constructed within the park. Two acres of what they call the platform has been fully racked. We understand from our rangers that it sinks now and then, obviously because of the area is wetland and the material they placed on those areas, and with the heavy rains it hasn’t fully settled. And that is one of the reasons why we’re planning to take the media out there to have a look at what we’re talking about. Obviously when I describe it here it doesn’t provide the magnitude of the activities they’re engaged in… We’ve instructed our attorneys with the consent of the leaders of the communities to try to bring the date closer because the company has intensified its operations and they’re having like twenty-five vehicles with trucks and dump trucks out there trying to prepare the site and we feel that if we do not stop them then the rights affirmed by the Supreme Court will have been for nothing. So it is urgent that we get a hearing by the court to see whether an injunction is required and we feel it is.”

Why dont the Mayans simply take over the whole country..They should plan a massive revolt against the GOB and the people of Belize, establish a Maya country and name it something else.

  2. history minded says:
