Cordel Hyde coming home to P.U.P.?

Cordel Hyde

And even as Francis Fonseca’s response to Luke Espat’s political intentions seemed lukewarm at best, he appears ready to roll out the fatted calf for a prodigal son who might be coming home. Cordel Hyde won three consecutive elections in Lake Independence before he walked away on the eve of elections 2012 and many believed that cost the P.U.P. the national elections. At that time the relationship between Hyde and the P.U.P. was decidedly hostile, but time heals all wounds, or so they say, and now he allegedly wants back in. Hyde has met with a number of members in the P.U.P. hierarchy including Fonseca who seems okay with his return. But Hyde’s come back will predictably meet serious opposition from members of the executive who blame not only Hyde, but also Mark Espat for the P.U.P. loss. Still, the P.U.P. Leader says he expects things to be worked out when he meets with Hyde in the coming week.

Francis Fonseca, P.U.P. Leader

Francis Fonseca

“We have been engaged in discussions and I think that Cordel and I have a good relationship. We are at the point where we have a good relationship and I think the potential of that relationship growing and strengthening is very good. I think that obviously the role that he will serve in the People United Party in terms of whether he intends to be a candidate in a division; that is something that we will continue to discuss. But certainly he has indicated in very clear terms to me that he is very keen and enthusiastic about rejoining the party and helping the party to become the government of Belize in the future election. So we are still in that process of discussion.”

“Any kind of timeline?”

Francis Fonseca

“No, no specific timeline, but I think we intend to meet in the near future…meaning in the next week or so and I hope that at that meeting we can reach some specific conclusions on moving forward.”

Francis, you da wan weak leader. It is disappointing to see the path of self destruction that Fonseca has chosen for the PUP.

Give me an evil leader, a leader that will lie and steal, but do not give me a weakling. Hyde and cohort (Espat) have proven to be Judas in disguise. They sold out for a few shillings. Now one of the rats is back?

The PUPs should not be surprised when their overseas fund raising machine dries up.. We (Belize) have lots of talent, and what do we do? Back to the garbage can…….. Hyde. If this Is the best Fonseca can do……………… get ready to lose elections……….again.

This is all well and good, but PUP need to get an agenda together. This party need to present a plan to the people. Do not carry on a fight with the U.D.P, focus on what is wrong in the country and set a plan in place for change. Become the party that is finally fighting for the all the people not just family and friends of politicians.

Change, solid good change is what is needed in the country.
